Standard Pivot Point Calculator

You may use the following pivot point calculator to calculate the pivot points for any time frame and also the associated support and resistance levels. Simply enter the vales of the high, low and closing price of the time-frame for which you wish to calculate the pivots in the input fields and press the “calculate” button.

Calculation

Pivot point calculation is used very commonly to determine the pivots and associated resistance and support levels in trading Forex, stocks, commodities and futures. The original pivot point is also known as standard or classical pivot point. These names were given in order to differentiate it from other pivot points which came into the picture, following the original concept. The formula for standard or classical pivot point and its associated resistance and support levels are as follows:

Pivot Point = ( H + L + C ) / 3.

Resistance and Support Levels

Supports
  1. S1 = ( 2 x Pivot ) – H
  2. S2 = Pivot – ( H – L )
  3. S3 = L – 2( H – Pivot )
Resistances
  1. R1 = ( 2 x Pivot ) – L
  2. R2 = Pivot + ( H – L )
  3. R3 = H + 2( Pivot – L )

Meanings of abbreviations in the above formulas are as follows:

  • H = Previous day’s high.
  • L  = Previous day’s low.
  • C = Previous day’s closing price.
  • S1 = First level of support.
  • S2 = Second level of support.
  • S3 = Third level of support.
  • R1 = First level of resistance.
  • R2 = Second level of resistance.
  • R3 = Third level of resistance.
